Week 14: January 4-8
Sun/Moon:
Welcome back. Hopefully, you had a wonderful Christmas, New Year, and many restful days in between!
This week, we are going to fill our paper with half of a sun and half of a moon and use hot colors on the sun sided and cold colors on the moon side. We will start by tracing a large circle near the middle of our paper (I traced a plate). Then, we need to divide the circle in half by drawing the profile or side view of the moon and his/her nose. Draw an eye on each side of the line, a closed- sleeping eye on the moon side and an open eye on the sun side. Be sure to draw the lips so half of the lips fall on each side (half on the moon side and half on the sun side). Add any details around the edges of the circle that you like that go with the sun and moon theme.

Outline all pencil lines with a black colored pencil, crayon, or marker (I used a black colored pencil). Erase any pencil lines that still show.
Carefully color each side with hot colors on the side with the sun (red, yellow, orange, pink, peach) and cold colors on the side with the moon (blue, green, blue, turquoise). Do your best! (I overlapped colors and pressed hard and soft.)
Add text or words to your picture by thinking of things you hope for (write these on the sun side) and things you dream of (write these on the moon side) for this new year. Your hopes and dreams could include things like emotions or feelings: hope, love, peace, healing, kindness...., or things that you value: family, friends, home, health, religion, food..... , or other things that stand out as important to you.
